| Pablo Soria was born in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina in 1964. He studied in the School of Fine Arts, National University of Tucumán, receiving his B.F.A. in 1989. He also received the Fellowship from the Fondo Nacional de las Artes for painting, accomplishing his studies in Buenos Aires from 1989 to 1991. Trying to box Pablo Soria’s work within a certain technique, a particular media or even a definite way of working is the first wrong step in attempting to approach it. The fact is, he has taken as many different paths as he believes it necessary to express himself. Painting, object-making, installations and photography are all, in his view, parts of the structure of a large screen. His explorations have been always guided by pure intuition. And in this search, he has never discarded any media. Sandblasted glass, layers of materials and great stages allow for a peek at the artist as character-voyeur, a double role that also can be played by the observer. This play for the camera attempts to reflect the moods of the soul over the passing of time. He presently lives and works in Miami, Florida, USA |
