TANIA DARASHKEVICH Tania was born in Prilyki, Ukraine and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1998. She works as a graphic designer, and enjoys a fruitful career as a still-life painter. Her artworks have been exhibited in Canada, the USA and Europe. “My “teachers” in Art are Jan Vermeer and Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin. I admire their attention to simple and modest things. Though, I don’t feel like I want to compete with them. My style is realistic, but with contemporary touch - strike of lights and the darkness of the shadows, the brightness of the floral and softness of the texture. Most of the times I use photos for the reference, but my paintings are never the same as photographs.
